Stepping back can propel you in directions you might not have realized existed before, so I view those moments as good ones.

So much wisdom in stepping back and having a bird's eye view of a situation. Gives you clarity and more control.

“I don’t care if it’s messy if it feels good.”

That’s going on the quotes wall 👍🏼

PS just dropped another ‘flamenco’ improv for your delectation 😊

If it feels right to you then it feels right - there's no set path or rhythm you just take. The chaos you speak of is likely from your need to slow down as you state. Thanks for sharing!

Yes Nick! Thanks for this insight. This reminds me is so essential to listen to what you're feeling and synchronise with it. Not always easy with so much noise out there!

I've much more recently started writing, but I really relate to this. The uncertainty of it all... and the joy of doing it again and again. Wondering what's keeping me going. Not having one clear answer. I think the clearest answer I've had thus far is that God put this writing bug in me. I don't yet fully know why. Like you say, what I write about and how I feel about it seems to change so much. But it's quite some fun (when i'm not stressing about what my audience thinks). I also really enjoy reading other people's work. It makes it less isolating and helps me to step outside of my self for a change. So thanks!

Hey Alvin, you're totally right. It's so much fun to arrive at a blank page and see where it takes you. Sometimes even I think writing is a form of spending time with God, in a way we connect through creativity and coming back every day or so it creates this spiritual practice that's hard to escape when you're immersed in it... We write for many reasons but one of them for me is to connect with and build a community. Can you name another one?

Community is an important one for me right now. I also think that we write to understand ourselves. I see a lot of people on substack saying that they write to be understood by others (I guess that ties into the community thing), and it is true for sure. But I also think we write to unpack the messiness in our heads. To see in a clear/honest way what hopes, beliefs and fears we carry. I look in my writing to shed the fears, doubts and the disbelief and to reinforce the faith, the belief, the love.

Yes! Everytime we write a word, we tend to go deeper into ourselves, our real version. Everything seems to be far more clear after. We tend to put so much weight into things that with a bit of separation, a pen and a paper everything dissolves into the wild river of life. Looking forward to reading your writing man!
